Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016 because of creative differences. After spending his time in the independent scene for two years, he wanted to bring a change in pro-wrestling. He did just that as he teamed up with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega to form AEW in 2019. They even received the support of Tony Khan.

AEW signed some big names and went on to become the second-best pro-wrestling promotion in the world. They provided wrestling fans another option and helped the wrestling scene reach a peak it hadn’t seen for a long time.

As per the sources, there was a fallout between Tony Khan and Cody Rhodes as Tony’s visibility grew within the company. It seems this upset Cody Rhodes, as he was the AEW Vice President.
