Mone has been very open about her troubled childhood, as she often referred to her father as ‘deadbeat’. She stated in a 2017 open interview on the podcast “Making Their Way to the Ring” that her mother suffered abuse at the hands of her father. The new AEW star also revealed that she was terrified of him as a child. He supposedly left the family to start over in Oregon by the time she turned two. Thus, Mone’s family relocated to Minnesota from Oregon. And in Minnesota, her brother, who had already experienced bullying in Oregon, encountered it again. Banks left formal schooling to take care of her brother and help her mother find employment as the bullying persisted.

On Open Late with Pete Rosenberg Banks revealed, “I have a brother with disabilities and he was getting abused in school. We were living in a hotel and my mom needed to have a job. So I was like ‘I will quit regular school and just stay at home and be with my brother. So you can have a job.”

Mone also opened up on the fact that getting homeschooled and her dedication to her brother led to her not having any friends growing up. But that did not hinder her plans of becoming a pro wrestler. And she says that her brother remains a huge part of her life. In fact, he regularly attends her pro wrestling shows.

There is a reason why Mone is called the Boss. There was no way that she would let life dominate her. Instead, she fought her way through it and reached superstardom.
