Now, in a recent interview, a former WWE wrestler currently with AEW shared intriguing insights into Tony Khan’s behavior, highlighting how he fulfilled the wishes of a former WWE Champion for a dream scenario in AEW.

Tonight on Dynamite, Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge in WWE, steps into the unexpected ring with Minoru Suzuki—a match that the wrestling world never saw coming. After 25 years with WWE, Copeland, now using his real name, is venturing into new territory in AEW. He initiated The Cope Open, an open challenge series, which was eagerly embraced by AEW owner Tony Khan.

This venture allows Copeland to collaborate on captivating matchups that surprise viewers and provide fresh opportunities. The clash between Suzuki-Gun‘s leader and the former WrestleMania headliner is now a reality in the AEW ring. 

He shared on Sports Illustrated, “So I asked Tony, ‘Can we get Suzuki?’ He said he’d find out. As soon as he found out, literally as soon as he got off the phone, he advertised it on air.” Copeland expressed his excitement about the hard-hitting and grizzled encounter, highlighting the unpredictability of this matchup.

Caught off guard, Copeland got the scoop backstage when Jon Moxley spilled the beans about the official match news. He said, “I’m sitting in the locker room getting changed, and Moxley says to me, ‘Hey man, it’s you and Suzuki next week.’” Copeland also added, “So you can only imagine my excitement. Immediately, I’m thinking, ‘I need to cut a promo about it.’”

He had amazing plans to cut a promo about the unexpected showdown. In his promo, Copeland, a seasoned pro with wrestling in his blood, showcased his entertaining skills. He ended up stating, “This isn’t a job…This is what I love doing.”

Adam Copeland went on to add another layer of anticipation to this unique and unforeseen matchup in the world of professional wrestling. Copeland’s got a world of possibilities at his fingertips because of Tony Khan.
