Tony Khan couldn’t have booked it better. Only time will tell whether receiving a blow from Jack Perry and the Young Bucks paves the way for something greater. Nevertheless, the segment synced perfectly in time for the NFL draft. Millions of fans have been wondering if Khan should keep his wrestling priorities above the NFL by continuing the injury angle during the Draft or not. Putting all the doubts to rest, Khan showed up in the NFL newsroom with a neck brace.

Khan selling the injury inside the AEW ring and beyond instantly reminded us of former WWE boss Vince McMahon who slided into several storylines during his prime time in the company. Its an effective strategy if done right. Even Khan’s typical critic, Bully Ray, took to Twitter to heap praise.

Jack Perry’s competitive heel turn and the efforts to dish out punishment prove Khan’s willingness to do what’s better for the product. In fact, one can even argue the segment provided some effective meta-commentary. The segment and following storyline involving Tony Khan and his oppressors could pave the way for something grander. With that said, Bully Ray already sees the fire brewing inside Tony Khan as he aims to respond in kind in the immediate future.

Tony Khan kept Jack Perry on the shelf for around 8 months. The AEW star vented all the pent-up rage on his very first chance since returning to the promotion. He took The Elite to his side to corner Khan more deftly. But Bully Ray believes the Jacksonville Jaguars executive won’t let the embarrassment fly without issuing a proper response. Ray noted, ”This is what I wanna see from Tony Khan. When it comes to Jack Perry, I want to see Tony Khan have his George McFly moment. I wanna see Tony Khan have his man-up moment. I want to see Tony take his hand, ball it up into a fist, and punch Jack Perry right in his f**aking mouth. That’s the receipt. It’s that simple.”

It will be fascinating to see how the story of the AEW promoter moves forward with all the turns and twists that await us. What’s your take on Bully Ray appreciating Tony Khan for selling his injury in the NFL Draft newsroom? Let us know in the comments.
