Wrestling in the ring definitely takes a toll on the athlete’s body. But in addition to the in-ring antics, even the constant traveling adds to the wrestler’s misery. AEW superstar Jon Moxley agrees with this the most as he has developed a serious health issue as a result of this traveling and wrestling.

Moxley, who is known for his hardcore wrestling matches is suffering from an issue so serious that he once even considered retiring from the business because of it.

Jon Moxley has been in the wrestling business for almost 20 years now. He was with the WWE from 2012 to 2019 making his debut as part of the villainous faction The Shield. During his 7-year stint with the WWE, he won multiple championships and was even the WWE Champion at one time.

Post that he joined AEW and has been with them ever since. In November 2021, he took a break from wrestling to join a rehab for his drinking problem. He is the current AEW International Champion and one of the hottest stars in AEW right now. Being the star in demand means that you also wrestle a lot and be present at most events. And Moxley always gives his best whether he is performing in front of a crowd of 1000 or even 70,000 as in the case of ‘All In’ at the Wembley Stadium in London.

But all this wrestling and traveling has taken a toll on his body, so much that he can’t move properly till noon. On his recent appearance on the Bleav in Pro Wrestling podcast, he explained how he has arthritis that is almost similar to that of a 70-year-old man. He said, “The doctor last year told me that I have the arthritis of a 70-year-old man. And that was quite humbling, that was a year or two ago. So by now, it’s like a 72-year-old man. I don’t move very well in the mornings, but thank god shows are at night because by then I’m pretty loosened up.”

Moxley even said that he would have retired by now if they recorded shows in the morning. He added, “If we started doing like those early territory-style studio TV tapings on Sunday mornings, I would have retired. I’d be done. There’s a lot of times I can’t even move before noon.”

Luckily Jon Moxley is still in good shape and can perform really well in the ring in spite of this health issue. But let’s take a look at the injuries Moxley has sustained during his wrestling career.

Jon Moxley has suffered many injuries because of his hardcore wrestling style

In 2009 when Moxley was on the independent circuit, he suffered an injury where his left nipple was almost ripped off. Then later in 2017, he had a tricep injury owing to which he was out of action for 9 months.

In 2022 he sustained another injury due to which he had to cancel his match at AEW’s pav Forbidden Door. In that same year, he also got seriously injured by a clothesline causing a match stoppage. Hopefully going forward he mellows down his wrestling style so his career can last longer. But what do you guys think about Jon Moxley’s severe Arthritis problem?
