AEW and Darby Allin couldn’t escape receiving the heat from netizens despite walking down a quintessential AEW Revolution episode tonight. The blame goes to Allin’s dangerous move over the glass.

AEW pulled out a surreal celebration of wrestling at the Greensboro Coliseum tonight as part of the Revolution 2024. The night descended upon the wrestling world as a historic landmark, as Sting drew a monumental end to his fairytale career. The legend’s final match was as copious as the hype, with Darby Allin playing a perfect assist in a victorious tag team bout against The Young Bucks. But in the process, what Allin did put fans in a frenzy.

As the high-flying match took pace, Allin made his opponent lay on a pane of glass outside the ring. His opponent slid himself away while Allin did the absolute unthinkable. He insanely jumped through the glass pane, leaving his body bloodied. This was a menacing shot to even watch live.

The 31-year-old daredevil always seeks thrill in his moves inside and outside the ring. His death-defying attitude dates back to his debut in 2020. Staying firm in that style, the All Elite Wrestling star found himself in the doctor’s room straight after his recent championship win because of excessive bleeding all over his body. Even before he healed completely, he again senselessly put his body on the line.

While the cinematic display of resilience and heroics seemed pure magic to some, it didn’t sit well with a lot of seasoned wrestling buffs. They found it nothing but an over-the-top antic to attract cheap attention.

Fans lambasted AEW and Allin for a redundant power stunt

Wrestling is a scripted sport that the wrestlers stage like a reality. But when it fails, it loses its very purpose. Something similar happened with Allin’s close-to-death move. It was so unreal that fans couldn’t even connect it to the reality.

They deem it as fake.

One user hated it so much that the credibility of wrestling has been put into question.

They believe Allin could easily go for an alternative, avoiding the fatal nature of the stunt.

Fans reject it as a cheap stunt.

It will be interesting to see if his immediate future moves inside the squared circle to compensate for the backlash or if he continues to stay in his style, regardless.
