Why did Ronda Rousey leave WWE?

The former UFC star who made her debut in 2018 was both praised and criticized by fans. While her in-ring work was commendable, her comments on the sport’s scripted nature drew fans’ attention. In April 2020, she was under fire due to her comments on WWE, calling oy fake. A couple of years later, at the 2022 Survivor Series, she again came under the radar due to a botched move while performing a DDT on Shotzi. Due to this, fans wanted her to be fired. Later in a video, Rousey stated that she understood the anger of the fans and maybe needed to be fired, but whatever she did was to keep Shotzi safe.

She had even stated that after the botch when Madcap Moss and Big E were spiked on their heads, nobody said anything about it. Following in 2023, things took an unfortunate turn for her. In the 2023 SummerSlam, Rousey and Shayna Baszler locked horns in an MMA Rukes match. There Bazsler was able to knock The Baddest Women on the Planet and secured her win. Following this Rousey posted on Instagram a picture of herself in the WWE ring with the caption, “@qosbaszler you were the reason I got into this business… Now I got no reason to stay”. Even though Raquel Rodriguez once accepted that Rousey had done a lot for the WWE women’s division, she still had to leave. How do you think Ronda Rousey’s career will head in Ring of Honor?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let’s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
