MJF hasn’t been seen on our television screens since losing the AEW Championship to Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End. Suffering from a shoulder injury, the wrestler had to be operated on to get treatment. AEW apparently hoped for the return of the wrestler last March, if we are to believe a few sources.

A meeting with Tony Khan even took place on the sidelines of the AEW Big Business Show in Boston with this in mind. But his last scan showed no healing of his injury, and an operation had to take place. But now we finally have an update on his return. A renowned insider has just revealed that MJF might be back at AEW soon, and that too just before a major PPV.

When MJF took a break, the duration of his absence was left unknown. The rumors at the beginning of January had already been announced several months or even a year away from the ring. But hopefully, it looks like that won’t be the case. In a recent episode of the Fightful Wrestling Podcast, Denise Salcedo and Sean Ross Sapp discussed the possible return of ‘The Devil’. And that’s when Sapp revealed that MJF might return in a month, right around AEW’s Forbidden Door PPV. He said, “I think MJF will come back soon. Within the next month, or so I think. I don’t care what anybody says; I know that guy. He’s sneaky; he’s very, very sneaky. That’s my prediction.”

This will be really good news for the fans, as they have been missing the antics of the Devil. But the news is even better for AEW, as they have been losing a lot of viewership for quite a while now. So having MJF back on the roster is sure to attract a significant number of people. After all, MJF is one talent who has even been praised by WWE legends.

Despite being absent from AEW’s programming for more than five months, MJF continues to remain one of the company’s top stars. During the period between 2022 and 2023, he managed to stand out by becoming the AEW World Champion, holding the longest reign in the history of the title. This achievement has elevated his status to a new level and expanded the recognition he receives from other personalities. Speaking on Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat show, WWE legend JBL shared that he had the opportunity to meet MJF and expressed his deep impression of the work he has been doing. JBL highlighted MJF’s intelligence and noted that he has made a good decision by drawing inspiration from Roddy Piper to thrive in his career.

“I got to meet MJF over in England. Blown away by him. What a great guy. And the questions he was asking — very intelligent. He was asking stuff about Roddy Piper and being a heel. We shared a car ride together back to the airport. Really smart, young guy. I’m a big fan of him personally. There’s some pretty good heels out there.” Well, it surely looks like MJF has the charisma to charm everyone who meets the heel. So do you think the same charisma will help AEW win back its fans once the Devil returns to the promotion? Let us know in the comments.
