AEW Dynamite recently telecasted their Fight for Fallen show on TNT. The show received widespread reach because of the deathmatch between Chris Jericho and Nick Gage, followed by numerous controversies. AEW has now shot a special Fight for the Fallen episode this week from Charlotte, North Carolina, and WWE Superstar Zelina Vega was spotted backstage.

Vega, who is now part of the Smackdown roster, recently made her WWE return after being released by WWE in November 2020.

Spotting wrestling stars backstage at rival wrestling promotions isn’t something uncommon these days. Wrestlers tend to visit their friends and family who may work for another wrestling brand. This was exactly what happened when Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam reported on the presence of Zelina Vega backstage of the AEW Fight for the Fallen special episode. Zelina came to visit her husband, Malakai Black, currently working for AEW.

Malakai Black aka Aleister Black, had a brief stint with WWE and WWE NXT. But he ended up being one of those superstars that WWE had to release due to budget constraints. Zelina married Black back in 2018, and since then, the duo have been living in Tampa, Florida.

When WWE fired Zelina back in 2020

It shocked wrestling fans when they came to know the about firing of Zelina Vega from WWE. The company strictly prohibited the use of third-party apps such as Twitch. Zelina, who had an excellent fan following in Twitch, refused to follow the company’s guidelines, which ultimately led to her release.

After her release from WWE, Zelina tweeted a controversial tweet saying that as she stood to support unionization.

Vega’s release created a kerfuffle within the WWE as some of the influential figures on the board wanted WWE to retain her instead of releasing her. After several weeks of conversation, WWE decided to re-sign Zelina back to the company.

Zelina Vega, who chose to come back to WWE, made her shocking return in July 2021. The WWE Universe was not expecting her to return to WWE after the unpleasant fallout she had with WWE back in 2020.
