The much-awaited return of Logan Paul to boxing happened on October 14th, 2023. The internet sensation went off against Dillon Danis at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Paul emerged as the victor of the bout. But immediately after that, he did something which has kept everyone on their toes. Right after the match, Logan Paul challenged Rey Mysterio for his WWE US championship. With this open challenge, Rey Mysterio breaks down what might be the reason behind Paul challenging him.

Rey Mysterio questions the conditions behind Logan Paul’s callout

Rey Mysterio was present on the October 16th episode of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. The host asked Mysterio whether he had the chance to catch up on the bout between Danis and Paul. To which the star said yes, he did indeed watch the live telecast. He then went on to ask about his views on Logan Paul challenging him. To this, the Master of 619 replied, “He just won to fight so his octane level is at a peak and the adrenaline’s going so I think he felt very comfortable.” According to the WWE US World Champion, Paul might have not been in the right state of mind to declare that.

This belief of his was solidified when he said, “Now the question is, will he be comfortable whenever we decide to make this match?”. This implies that the 48-year-old star was wondering whether The Maverick would stay as comfortable during the match as he would dictate the circumstances behind it. The veteran also said, “ I think personally because he’s been doing really good in the ring,” commending the star on his performance in the boxing ring. Logan Paul won the face-off against Dillon Danis by 60-54. The match went on for 6 rounds and in the final round, Danis was disqualified, making Paul the winner.

Rey Mysterio thinks that Logan Paul might have been high on adrenaline when he proposed the challenge. But the star believes that Logan Paul is indeed a force to be reckoned with.

During the conversation, Helwani asked if it was because Paul considers Mysterio ‘a smaller guy’ might be the motivation to score an easy win. To this, the Lucha Lebre replied, “I mean I’ve been fighting bigger guys my whole life so I don’t see why he would see it that way. But I do believe that he has trust in his growth inside a wrestling ring.” He believed that Paul had confidence in himself as a pro wrestler. And he believes that it could be a reason for him to challenge the senior star.

He brought up the SummerSlam match between Paul and Ricochet which happened this year. He said, “Look at the performance he put against Ricochet, incredible! I had to tip my mask off to that match. It was really good.” At WrestleMania 39, both the stars collided and Paul came out victorious. But, instead of celebrating his victory, he had to leave urgently to tend to a matter. Mysterio also said that Paul gave a good fight against Roman Reigns. The bout which transpired at Crown Jewel last year declared Tribal Chief as the winner. But according to Mysterio, Paul did great work.
