Switching companies in wrestling nowadays is pretty common. Many superstars talk about signing with other companies on social media when they don’t feel valued. But seeing a wrestler jump combat sports industries is still rare. Even when Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and Jack Swagger have done it before, it still came as a surprise that John Morrison made a jump to boxing.

While we have seen a lot of boxers come over to the wrestling side, it is rare to see a wrestler turn into a boxer. No one would have expected to see Morrison come out to a boxing ring. After being let go by WWE Morrison joined AEW but soon faded into obscurity, that is until now. But he hasn’t forgotten his wrestling roots as he brought out his wrestling friends for his first boxing match.

For his boxing debut, Morrison got all of his former colleagues from TNA to come out. Most of these ex-TNA stars are mainstays in WWE right now like LA Knight who used to go by Eli Drake and Karrion Kross who used to go by Killer Kross. His valet in WWE, Scarlett, also a former TNA knockout and WWE legend Hacksaw Jim Duggan, who also worked in Impact! for a while came out to support Morrison.

Only Mojo Rawley, an ex-WWE star, and Josh Barnett, who is a former UFC world champion are not from TNA/Impact! background but came out to the boxing ring with Morrison. Of course, his wife, Taya Valkyrie came out with him as well.

With the support of his friends and his surprising knockout punch, Morrison won the match. While many wrestlers have tried to enter other combat sports, they usually lose in that first match or so. This could mean that Morrison is ready to go against other opponents in the boxing ring as well.

Morrison stunned everyone with this announcement as he is known for his high-flying abilities. His moves from the top rope are some of the most magnificent to watch. Just watching this one superhuman move by the former tag champion will prove his skill in the wrestling ring. But seeing him in boxing is a far cry from his wrestling career.

At the end of his match, Morrison did mention KSI by name, calling out the YouTuber for a match. If KSI does answer this call, we can expect Logan Paul, his Prime co-owner to budge in as well. Could this entire jump to boxing be an elaborate scheme to get into WWE again? Nothing is too far-fetched in pro wrestling for that matter. But we’d love to see Morrison in the boxing ring once again in the future.
