Muhammad Ali is perhaps the most famous athlete of all times. Especially in the sport of boxing, Ali is a legend. During his lifetime, he became an icon around the world. He remains a household name long after his sad passing in 2016. Moreover, Ali left a legacy unmatched by anyone till today as he became a pop culture icon. The sports and entertainment industries still use his name for reference as representing greatness.

Ali is so popular that his name has become a part of the common lexicon around the world. Especially in the combat sports industry, many athletes mention his name as their inspiration. Hence, it comes as a surprise that one WWE Legend mistakenly misspelled his name on a tweet he sent out. This WWE legend was William Regal.

William Regal was clearly paying tribute to the greatness of Muhammad Ali, as he felt fortunate to have wrestled someone who fought Ali. Even an indirect connection to the boxing legend seemed like an honor to the veteran wrestler. However, mistakes do happen, especially on social media, and Regal did spell Ali’s name wrong. But he immediately sent out an apology in his next tweet.

No one is perfect, and Regal made an honest mistake, for which he respectfully apologized.

William Regal was recently in the news for his shocking release from WWE. The veteran worked for the company for years, not only as a wrestler but backstage as well. He helped bring up many of the current top WWE Superstars.

Other than being the most famous boxer of all time and a legend in the boxing industry, Ali appeared in a multitude of things. One of them happened to be WWE, as Ali graced the squared circle with his presence at the first-ever WrestleMania.

Ali played the part of special guest referee and ring enforcer in the main event of WrestleMania. The match was a tag team bout with Hulk Hogan teaming up with Mr. T to take on Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff. Furthermore, Ali even took a few swings at piper in the middle of the match.

The legendary boxer passed away on June 3rd, 2016, and people all around the world still remember and miss him.
