Fans witnessed history in the making at the Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida on the night of January 27, 2024, with the 37th Royal Rumble. The first Premium Live Event of this year had many moments that fans still haven’t got over. Roman Reigns proved himself to be an immortal Undisputed Champion, Kevin Owens went berserk with Logan Paul after their match, and the Men and Women’s 30-participant battle royale, as always, delivered. Turns out, these battles helped WWE break some records with the marquee live event.

WWE 2024 Royal Rumble breaks some records

As per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, internal memos at WWE suggest that this year’s rumble performed very well and exceeded everyone’s expectations. The PLE witnessed the highest-ever Royal Rumble viewership. Along with that, the footfall at last night’s Rumble broke the records set by all the PLEs of the company, save for WrestleMania.

As stated by WWE itself during the Royal Rumble, a total of 48,044 fans were present last night at the Tropicana Fields. While these numbers are staggering, the promotion has not provided any numbers about the global viewership. Last night fans witnessed two more records being made.

Bayley survived the longest in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. She entered the ring at number 3 and survived for one hour and three minutes before becoming the winner of the Rumble. Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes also created history after winning his second consecutive Royal Rumble, becoming the first star to do so in 26 years.

The 2024 Royal Rumble was a spectacle, to say the least. Here are the best moments from last night’s event in case you missed it.

The event started with the Women’s Royal Rumble. Fans witnessed the return of Naomi to WWE after almost two years. Apart from that, Ni\aomi’s rival from TNA, Jordynne Grace made an appearance at number 5. Jade Cargill made her long-awaited WWE debut after she was signed by WWE back in September 2023. Cargill proved to be an excellent powerhouse in the ring as she was able to eliminate Nia Jax following a tough fight.

The Men’s Royal Rumble saw the return of Andrade who returned to WWE after almost 3 years. Apart from that, Sami Zayn returned to WWE as he was out due to an injury caused by Drew McIntyre. The ring was rumbling during the men’s division match. As the dust settled, the two stars who were standing in the ring were Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. After the two stars delivered a dozen German Suplexes to each other, The American Nightmare secured the win marking his second consecutive Royal Rumble victory since his return.

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
