

In a recent post on Twitter, WWE Superstar Kevin Owens explained what went on in his mind before he performed a highly risky move during his match against Murphy at Extreme Rules earlier today.

Kevin Owens’ match was announced mere hours before the event began. This was a shock announcement but was crucial to the Mysterio vs Rollins storyline.
We know Kevin Owens does some pretty crazy things for a man of his size. He does not hesitate to fly high from the top rope down on his opponents. This unique athleticism is what made WWE sign him in the first place.

However, in his match against Murphy, we saw something supernatural from Owens. As he got his opponent down on the mat, he climbed to the top rope, then went down to the second. We knew Owens was planning a frog splash. However, something else was on his mind.

Owens quickly jumped up to the third rope and delivered a huge Moonsault to Murphy. The move that we have almost never seen from Owens was finally pulled off to perfection.
Let me take you through my thought process here:
“Ok I’m gonna hit a Swanton.
No, wait! They almost always put their knees up…
Ah! I’ve got it! That jump-up Moonsault thing I never manage to hit. He won’t expect that!
Oh, shit! Almost slipped.

It was absolutely flawless. There’s no doubt that everyone watching was shocked by what they had just witnessed. Owens went on to win the match, clearing the path for Mysterio to have a clean and fair fight against Rollins.
Owens has been a trustworthy ally to Rey Mysterio. He has him on several occasions to fend off the “Monday Night Messiah” and his followers.

However, the fans keep repeating their desire to see him as a heel once more. The role of the face doesn’t quite suit Owens. With a man of his mic skills and talents, WWE should not spend his potential on the face role when he can be the most hated heel in the business.
Owens’ athleticism makes him a special talent and WWE needs to use every bit of him. WWE could use a good heel in the men’s division now. Kevin Owens should be the first man on their list for the role,
