The 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which took place from May 2 to September 27, 2023, saw a number of Hollywood projects halted. This resulted in both John Cena and Dwayne The Rock Johnson returning to the WWE for brief appearances, with Cena on an extended run.

However, will Cena return after the strike and Hollywood projects are back on track? Cena was asked that very question during the post-Fastlane press conference, and he had an exciting answer.

Cena started out by saying how he could not handle both WWE and acting as it has insurance. He explained that if he were to get injured in the WWE while under a movie contract, it would result in people losing their jobs. “Yes, I stopped a project in the middle of it,” Cena said. This showed how much Cena respected the movie career and the people he worked with.

Cena also said that he could not juggle both being an actor and a wrestler. He would stick to one at a time. This could hint at him staying a bit longer, but with no feud, there’s nothing for him to do.

The canceled Cena vs Logan Paul match for WrestleMania

One of the earlier concepts for a match was Logan Paul vs. the icon John Cena. This was during Paul’s initial run in the company. Fans were super excited when they got the hint of this. Paul demonstrated that he could hang with the top WWE stars, and Cena would make it a match fans would talk about.

However, due to Cena’s unavailability to draw out a long story, the match was canceled, and Cena faced Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39. However, fans are still hopeful this could happen at WrestleMania 40. Experts have also shared their thoughts on the match and claimed that it would generate a buzz.
