Recently, The Sun’s Simon Boyle shared a report in which he wrote Will Smith is ‘set to return’ to play Genie in Aladdin 2. This means The Rock will not be a part of Aladdin 2.

As per the report, a movie insider said: “This would be one of the first movies Will has shot since the Oscars slap and it is quite surprising, given that it will be for a kids’ film. He has done a lot of work on himself and the consensus is that it will all be very much in the past by the time the movie is released.”

Further, it said, “The first film was a huge success so it would be silly not to make another, and it would be a real shame to have to re-cast Will over what happened. So Disney is keen to stand by him and bring him back into the fold.”

There were huge rumors last year of The Fresh Prince could lose this role to DJ. Surprisingly, this news came out a few weeks after DJ was accused of lying about Black Adam’s box office collection.

The Brahma Bull is a big-money and popular actor currently. However, there is a possibility the recent Black Adam debacle may have led Disney not to recast Will Smith in Aladdin 2.
