But even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson looked up to the Hollywood megastar Johnny Depp when he started his journey as an actor. The Rock began his Hollywood journey in a lead role in the movie ‘The Scorpion King’.

Johnson’s The Scorpion King movie was released in 2002. During that time, Dwayne Johnson had already been a megastar in Vince McMahon’s WWE. However, starting a Hollywood career was a bit scary for him.

A resurfaced video of The Rock working out in the gym revealed how Johnny Depp inspired him. Johnson shared an experience of him watching The Scorpion King film in the theatre when Pirates of the Caribbean struck his nerves. Dwayne Johnson sat in the theater with his hat low, hoping nobody would recognize him.

Johnson said, “One of the trailers was Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean with Johnny Depp. He was the biggest star in the world at that time. I was so blown away by that trailer, the spectacle of it, the magic of it, the transportation of it.”

 

“I thought I was a little kid again in a theatre eight years old in Charlotte, North Carolina, watching Indiana Jones. Like that’s how it made me feel.”

In 2002, even Johnny Depp geared up himself as Captain Jack Sparrow for the very first time for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of Black Pearl’. So when The Great One’ saw the trailer of Pirates of the Caribbean, he was on cloud nine watching Johnny Depp in the iconic Jack Sparrow role.

Twenty years ago, the wrestler turned actor wished to be in Disney’s iconic movie. Fast forward to today, he played a lead role with Emily Blunt in Disney’s Jungle Cruise film. Not only that, but Johnson may reportedly replace Johnny Depp in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off!
