Apart from wrestling and acting, John Cena also shares an equal passion for bodybuilding. When he is not “AA”ing his opponents in the ring or acting, Cena spends his time lifting weights in the gym.
However, sometimes he takes his workouts to the next level. We have seen some of those on social media, but we bet you don’t know about this gym story of the WWE legend.

A 46-year-old powerlifter who is also Cena’s gym buddy once recalled a story about him and ‘The Cenation Leader’ trying a new workout. As per him, doing the workout for the first time didn’t end well for the 16-time world champion.
Mark Bell recalls doing Poliquin-style training with John Cena
A year ago, in 2021, Mark Bell recalled the story on Mark Bell’s Power Project podcast. He started off with saying John Cena is one of the most amazing people he workout over the years.
Bell also recalled how Cena used to be competitive while working out. Well, there is a reason why the WWE star is competitive in the gym.

The Powerlifter said, “He’s just knocking the shit out of me here and there with some training sessions. So he’s like, ‘Hey got ahead and pick whatever you want to do.’ I’m like, ‘OK, we’re going to do some squats, and we’re going to do some leg curls in between the squats, Poliquin-style.”
He added, “So we’re doing this tempo stuff, and he’s never messed with any of it before, and he ends up throwing up. He ends up turning just really pasty white, and I’m like ‘I got this motherfucker, this is fucking great!’ because he crushing me many times made me feel kind of great.”

It seems this type of workout didn’t come with a warning for ‘Super Cena’. He started doing these lifts and safe to say Bell had the last laugh over John Cena.

Mark Bell called Cena an animal in the gym!
Before recalling the above incident, the 46-year-old power lifter shared how it is working with John Cena. He called the WWE legend an animal when he comes to working out.
He said, “He used to kill me when we would workout, he loves to do straight-up bodybuilding stuff. He’s a fucking animal (and) John does these craziest workouts. He’s like, ‘Oh today we’re doing Indianapolis 500.’”
He added, “I’m like what the f**k is that? It’s like 500 reps on a leg press with just as weight as you can handle. Like what we are doing and I’d be sore for three weeks and he’s laughing because he’s an animal.”
