Over the years, Dwayne Johnson has cemented his legacy as a top action hero in Hollywood. While filming action-packed movies, they use real firearms on the sets many times. However, an incident with real guns in 2021 made The Brahma Bull implement a massive change in his production company, ‘Seven Bucks Productions’. Without even thinking of the loss he would incur, DJ wanted to put these changes in place effectively immediately.
Dwayne Johnson promised the safety of his production company
As per The Cut, in October 2021, while filming Alec Baldwin’s then-upcoming movie ‘Rust’, a woman lost her life after a prop firearm accidentally discharged. This incident made several movie sets adopt stricter safety precautions. The Rock also brought several changes in his company ‘Seven Buck Productions’. He stated about not using real firearms while filming.
Johnson said to Variety, “I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you, without an absence of clarity here, that any movie that we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions (in) any movie, any television show, or anything we do or produce- we won’t use real guns at all.
The movie star revealed the alternative solution he was putting in place. “We’re going to switch over to rubber guns, and we’re going to take care of it in post. We’re not going to worry about the dollars; we won’t worry about what it costs.”

Furthermore, he also assured that this rule will be in effect even if Seven Bucks Productions partners with other companies. They won’t use real guns in the movies associated with DJ’s production company.
DJ also shed a light on loving ‘the movie business’ and wanting to ensure the safety of his crew. He acknowledged that accidents do happen on movie sets, but an incident of this “magnitude” made him change a major rule.
