Former WWE Women’s Champion Makes Impact Wrestling Debut to Challenge Deonna Purrazzo

In a surprising turn of events; Mickie James interrupted Deonna Purrazzo saying that she has to defend her Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts Championship against former three-time WWE Women’s champion Melina at NWA’s all-women PPV, EmPowerrr, in August.

After WWE released Purrazzo in 2020, she returned to Impact Wrestling on the May 26 episode. She soon defeated Jordynne Grace by submission to win the Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts Championship for the first time.

On this week’s IMPACT Wrestling, Matthew Rehwoldt aka Aiden English in WWE, came out and addressed the audience. He then claimed himself as the ‘Drama King’ and welcomed Deonna Purrazzo to celebrate their win at the Homecoming Tournament.

As the two were boasting about their win, veteran Mickie James interrupted them with a contract in hand. He went on to remind Purrazzo that she agreed to defend her title at NWA EmPowerrr PPV.

Wrestling legend Melina makes her IMPACT debut

James then introduced the wrestling legend, Melina, as a challenger for Purrazzo’s Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts Championship. The veteran received a heartfelt response from the audience as she made her way to the ring.

The two wrestlers shared a brief stare-down before Purrazzo grabbed a hold of the contract and signed it with no hesitation. She then said that it was an honor to meet Melina, but it will be more honorable if she defeats the wrestling icon.

Melina signed the contract making it clear she’ll win the Knockouts Championship at her very first shot at the title, just like Purrazzo did last year at Slammiversary.

This match is a dream bout that wrestling fans never dreamed of. However, Purrazzo is no stranger to laying waste to veterans of women’s wrestling.

But before Purrazzo gets her hands on Melina, she has to face Faby Apache in a ‘Champion vs Champion’ match where both the titles – AAA Reina de Reinas and Impact Knockouts Championship will be on the line at Triplemania XXIX.
