Karma comes for those who betray their closest ones, and Bayley felt that through and through at this year’s Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. While she might have thought betraying her Damage CTRL faction member would lead to her victory, she couldn’t have been more wrong.

Not only did she lose the match, but the fan favorite came out on top and won the Money in the Bank briefcase. To add salt to the wound, the winner also stepped on Bayley, both figuratively and literally.

This year’s women’s Money in the Bank ladder match was one to watch. From amazing moments to continuing brutal rivalries, it had something for everyone. But one moment that stood out was Io Sky’s beautiful moonsault from atop the ladder. Not only did this make for a great moment, but also gave Sky a boost in the match.

With everyone on the outside and tired, she hopped on the ladder and the briefcase was only a hair’s length away. But out of nowhere, her own Damage CTRL stablemate, Bayley, kicked the ladder down, dropping Sky down. This isn’t the first time that the Role Model has betrayed a teammate.

But this wasn’t the end for Sky. When Becky Lynch popped up to battle the Role Model on top of the ladder, Sky sneaked in between. In a stroke of genius, she hooked the handcuffs, which were already tied to Lynch’s hands, to Bayley’s hands, locking the two from going up at all.

Then, Sky climbed over her faction mate and with her involuntary support climbed the top and unhooked the briefcase, becoming Ms. Money in the Bank in the process.

It is inevitable that Bayley will not leave Sky’s side, even though she betrayed Sky, because the conniving nature of the Role Model won’t let Sky get success before going through her. We’ll be hoping for a blood feud between these two excellent talents down the line. But fans would get especially frustrated if Bayley took away Sky’s chance to cash in her newly won briefcase.
