Pro wrestling is a very impactful sport. The larger-than-life characters coupled with great storytelling often leave fans with memorable instances. For example, everyone is familiar with John Cena’s ‘You can’t see me’ gesture. Since the sport became popular after WWE came into existence, a lot of antics by various WWE stars have entered the mainstream. However, it might not be a good idea to use them outside the ring. Here are a few athletes from different sports who embraced their inner WWE star only to face consequences.

The group did what they wanted and spoke whatever they felt like. However, this can work only inside the WWE ring. Joel Embiid proved this as the NBA fined him for celebrating in trademark DX fashion. The 76ers center was fined a whopping $35,000 as the NBA deemed DX’s celebration as an obscene act.

Stefon Diggs- ‘Stone Cold’ Beer celebration

Stone Cold Steve Austin was known for many reasons. One in particular is his signature celebration by bursting open a can of beer after a victory. It might make the character look renegade inside the ring. However, it might attract some trouble if done on a football field. Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs decided to celebrate like Austin after his game-winning touchdown against the Miami Dolphins. However, the NFL felt as if the action depicted unsportsmanlike behavior and decided that the NFL star should pay $13,659 as a fine.

Draymond Green- A headlock

Headlock happens to be one of the most powerful moves in a pro wrestler’s arsenal. Add a little force and the person might get unconscious. Hence, whenever a person puts someone in a headlock, the people around them start to get a bit concerned. Therefore when the Golden State Warrior’s Draymond Green put Rudy Gobert in a headlock, he was promptly ejected from the game.
