2015 was a rollercoaster year for WWE. Not only did Seth Rollins emerge as the top star in the company, but John Cena was putting in some of the best in-ring work in his twilight years as an active WWE performer. But the biggest headline was the in-ring debut of wrestling legend, Sting. The celebrated star who stayed at the top of WCW and TNA had finally signed a contract with WWE.

But in hindsight, if you ask fans, they did not like the way management handled the debut of such a big star. Sting’s arrival in the company was something that fans had awaited for about two decades. When Vince McMahon bought WCW, everyone wanted to see Sting come to WWE and swing his bat at every big star. But sadly, we never got that interaction in the Attitude Era, and the same thing happened in 2015.

One of the biggest things that people wanted to see at WrestleMania after Sting’s arrival was to see him go one-on-one against The Undertaker. But later, we would get to know that Sting and Taker didn’t want to disappoint fans after two decades’ worth of hype.

Former WWE Champion revealed the way WWE wasted his match with Sting

Recently, Big Show sat down with Billy Gunn for an interview with Generation Iron Fitness. While talking about his wrestling career, Show gave the example of his match with Sting in 2015. He said, “I wrestled Sting in WWE. We were supposed to have a 12-minute match. Something got screwed. I had to put Sting over in two minutes because he was going to WrestleMania.

In the interview, Show also revealed the bizarre thing that The Undertaker told him. And how it made his career bigger. Also, Gunn and Show discuss the details of the wrestling industry after being a part of it for nearly three decades. They even talked about how a good heel is a necessity for a good wrestling storyline.

Apart from Show, Sting’s biggest match was against Triple H at WrestleMania 31, but even that, riddled with many interferences, was not what fans wanted from Sting’s much-anticipated match in WWE. But it was sweet to watch Sting honored by the company next year in their Hall of Fame ceremony.
