During a recent appearance on the Busted Open radio, Ray dismissed the latest narrative of Cena burying talents. The WWE Hall of Famer referred to another famous notion that says Cena is the next Hulk Hogan, at least in terms of possessing innate professionalism. He noted, “Hulk was considered back in the day difficult to do business with. He was protecting the business and I think John does that also.”
Ray recalled one of Cena’s acts of generosity toward his tag team, the Dudley Boyz. During a six-team tag team match, Cena insisted they do a spot that the producer wanted to cut.
Ahead of Fast X’s Release, John Cena Clears a Major Doubt by Comparing the $5.9B Worth Franchise With WWE: “I Just Think They Don’t Understand”
”John blatantly comes us, to me and D-Von in gorilla right before we go out. ‘Do the spot, do it right in the middle of the ring, and when they want to know why, don’t worry. I’ll take all the heat for it.’ John has considerably less time in the business than me and D-Von had, but obviously at that moment in time, a much higher star on the card who has Vince’s ear… [He was] saying man to man, eye to eye, ‘I got you.” Ray explained.
Cena himself addressed the same criticism in the later part of the interview, revealing his side of the story.
