Chris Jericho Reveals his Original Plans for First Ever Mimosa Mayhem Match

Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy engaged in the very first Mimosa Mayhem Match. The stipulation of the match stated that the winner would be the one who toppled the other into the pool of Orange Juice and Champagne by the ring.

Orange Cassidy emerged as the winner by putting Chris Jericho into the pool. In fact, the win put Cassidy on the accelerated path to becoming a star in AEW.

Chris Jericho reveals original Mimosa Mayhem Match plans

Now, in a recent Instagram post, Jericho revealed what the original plan for this match was. If you take a good look at the plan, while it’s a rough sketch, the company did execute the setup to perfection.

It took the company 7 weeks to make this plan a reality. It is hoped that the company will bring forth a second Mimosa Mayhem Match in the future.

The pairing of Cassidy and Jericho in the ring struck certain fans as odd and a mismatch given their individual statures at AEW.

Jericho explained that the idea wasn’t to build a feud between the two but to add different flavors to Cassidy’s character. Hence, a match of its first kind against Jericho would be the push he needs to bring himself up to the next level.

The reason why Chris Jericho selected Orange Cassidy for this high octane program was that he hadn’t been in one before. Moreover, the notion about Orange Cassidy up until now was that he is lazy or stupid. Jericho’s idea was to paint him in a different light.

Chris Jericho possesses a knack for scouting and picking new talent. He knew that Orange Cassidy would step up to the challenge when faced with it.
