After Cutting Several Jobs, Dwayne Johnson Will Now Invest Millions to Upgrade XFL to the Next Level by 2024

Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia acquired XFL back in August 2020, after it went bankrupt. They bought it for $15 Million and decided to re-introduce it to the world. This year, XFL successfully executed a league tournament for the first time in a long while. The first-ever season had taken place all the way back in 2001 and the operations seized eventually after that. Now after a strong first season, Johnson outlined his ambitions to improve the prospects of the league and turn it into a successful venture for the future.

Due to the hard work of its new owners, the minor football league started operating again in 2023 after it folded a few years back and held its first season. This made Dwayne Johnson make some tough decisions as well.

About a week ago, reports started coming in about The Rock having to put his foot down and make some tough decisions. This news included information about the ‘job cuts’ happening at XFL. Reportedly, the company is trying to change its employment to ‘dual full-time’. So, while some would maintain their employment with the league, others would depart and will be open to taking up the work during the next season.

This process seems to have already begun as XFL’s CMO and VP/Marketing and Brand have already left the company. We still might be able to see both of them come back next season when the company’s employment scales up. But why exactly is Dwayne Johnson taking this step?

Although The Rock didn’t give a particular reason for the job cuts, it appears that he is trying to save up money for ensuring the sustainability of the company. He revealed his plans in a recent tweet. “After a successful @XFL2023 season, we look back on a critically important area of our league – Player Health & Safety. XFL has implemented new innovations on the field and off when it comes to concussion protocols, rehabilitation, and recovery,” tweeted Dwayne Johnson. “2024 season here we come.”

XFL has been turned into a league of opportunities for many players as The Rock himself revealed that more than 60 players from XFL will have signed with NFL teams by the time camps for next season will begin.
This further solidifies the league’s status as a league of opportunities, as players who don’t get into NFL, still have a chance to showcase their skill at a high level in front of large audiences before they get picked by the NFL. Thus it will help the league to sustain itself as many players will view it as a perfect chance to play professional football and make a career out of it.
