Dominik Mysterio is infamously known for leaving behind his father’s legacy. The heel-turned-wrestler is often called out for not respecting his legendary father enough. However, he is not going to be the only talent in WWE now. Another name is set to appear in the developmental brand sometime soon.

While announcing his future appearance in the promotion for the first time, the wrestler also snubbed his father’s legacy. The name in question is none other than Brian Pillman Jr. Despite the work that his father did for WWE, Pillman Jr. recently uploaded a public message for wrestling fans about coming out of his father’s shadow.

Much like Rey Mysterio, Brian Pillman was also a WWE legend. He was one of the stars who helped kick off the Attitude Era. Fans mostly liked him for his edgy personality. However, the Stamford-based company lost a gem when he died of an undetected heart disease in 1997.

Despite growing up without his biological father since the age of four, Pillman Jr. believes that he had been living under his shadow all this time. Now, it is time for him to climb the ladder of success on his own, much like the Mexican Luchador’s son.

WWE uploaded a post for the late legendary talent’s 26th death anniversary. The 30-year-old then reposted his father’s tribute post and wrote, “26 years ago my father was buried, and tonight I buried his last name. I will no longer be known as the lost son living in his father’s shadow. I will forge my own path and stop at nothing until I am the King of #WWENXT.”

It might be safe to assume that the former AEW star is announcing the beginning of his WWE run here, as he was signed on to the NXT brand.

Even though Pillman cannot directly feud against his father, dropping his legacy behind and wanting to come out of his shadow is what sets him similar to Dominik in this sense.

Since Dirty Dom is also a recurring face at the developmental brand, the two might also cross paths at some point. Perhaps the two sons who are trying to come out of their legendary fathers’ shadows might team up. And if WWE wants to try out something intense, we might even witness a feud between the two.
