At 17 years old, she completed her graduation from the private high school of NSU University School. Her plans after graduation were to pursue higher studies at New York University. But her love for pro wrestling pushed her to venture into the world of WWE.

Is Ava Raine and Simone Alexandra Johnson the same person?

Yes, the names Ava Raine and Simone Alexandra Johnson belong to the same person. Just like every WWE superstar, the 21-year-old superstar also goes by two names. In real life, she goes by her birth name, which is Simone Alexandra Johnson.

Whereas she uses Ava Raine as her wrestling name in WWE. However, in February, she shortened her name, and now she goes by the name Ava in WWE NXT, which is her home right now.

Ava Raine’s WWE debut and professional wrestling background

For weeks before her debut on WWE’s developmental branch, Ava wandered the halls of the WWE Performance Center wearing a red hoodie and a yellow mask. On the 10/25/2023 episode of NXT, she made her official debut in NXT where she revealed herself to the WWE Universe.

On her debut, she joined hands with ‘The Schism’. It is a villainous faction that consists of Joe Gacy and ‘The Dyad’ (Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid). For months, fans saw her alongside her stable members but not in action. The WWE Universe finally got to see her display her in-ring skills and talent on Sunday, April 1, 2023, WrestleMania weekend.

The third annual WWE NXT Stand & Deliver premium live event marked her in-ring debut. During the event, she and her faction members took on Chase University (consisting of Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Tyler Bate, and Thea Hail) in an eight-person tag team match.

However, she and her teammates came up short when it came to defeating Chase University on that night.

Talking about her wrestling background, she comes from a royal family of pro wrestlers. Her dad was the first third-generation superstar in WWE. Likewise, she is the first fourth-generation pro wrestling star in WWE. Her great-grandfather, Peter Maivia, started the wrestling legacy. Her grandfather, Rocky Johnson, and her father, The Rock, followed in his footsteps.

And now she is also doing the same and making her family proud. Plus, she also shares a blood relation with Roman Reigns and his Anoa’i family.

Being related to the Tribal Chief, many fans expect her to soon join The Bloodline faction. Only time will tell whether it happens.

How is Raine’s relationship with her father, Dwayne Johnson?

During the time when Ava was born, ‘The Corporate Champion’ was rising to stardom in WWE. It was also during the same time that he got his big break in Hollywood as the ‘Scorpion King’ in the 2001 movie, The Mummy Returns. His busy schedule made it very difficult for him to spend ample time with his daughter.

Johnson in The Pivot podcast mentioned how pro wrestling helped him to get closer to his eldest daughter. He added, “I had so much s**t going on, so I like to say, me and Simone grew up together, so we had a relationship where I was always gone, but we tried to keep it together.”

“Now, years later, as she becomes a pro wrestler, it’s actually brought us closer together. So in a way, it’s helped save that relationship too. In many ways, pro wrestling has been my family’s savior,” he added. The fact that Simone’s mom and dad are divorced has not strained the father-daughter relationship in any way.

‘The Brahma Bull’ has two daughters apart from Simone, Jasmine, 7, and Tiana, 5, from his second wife and he loves each one of his daughters equally. At the young age of 21, DJ’s daughter is earning more than he did when he was of the same age.

During an interview, he revealed that when he started out, his financial condition was not very well. Plus, his first wrestling gig got him a check for $40. Whereas his daughter kicked off her wrestling career through the biggest pro wrestling company in the world, which implies that she might be making a sizeable amount for herself as compared to her father.

It must make him very proud dad to see her little girl doing so well on her own. What do you think of Simone Johnson aka Ava keeping her family legacy alive in WWE? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. We would love to hear from you.
