Open-vest is a common element of many pro-wrestlers gear, but still, many fans feel Steve Austin inspired LA Knight’s vest. In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Knight revealed the source of his inspiration behind his open-vest style.

Knight clarified that his vest was inspired by hardcore wrestling great Brian Pillman and not Steve Austin. Interestingly, Austin and Pillman were real-life friends and wore a similarly modeled vest.
LA Knight’s ‘Yeah’ chant is similar to Austin’s ‘Hell Yeah’ chant. While his catchphrase ‘Let me talk to you’ seems a derivation of The Rock’s ‘The Rock says’ and Austin’s ‘Coz Stone Cold said so’. Hence, it was obvious for fans to call out the similarity with their vest.

Though the comparisons emerge often Knight clarified his stance by saying, “If anybody wants to put my name in with those guys that’s cool because that’s a hell of an elevation right there. But beyond that, my motives are to move above and beyond both of those guys.”
Even though he aspires to reach a greater height than Steve Austin and The Rock, Knight admits both superstars influenced him during his high school days. He said, “Those are the guys that I cut my teeth on in a certain sense when I was in high school and those were the guys.”
