One of the biggest and most celebrated mergers in the sports entertainment industry happened this year. WWE merged with UFC forming TKO Group Holdings under Endeavor. As the total evaluation of the merger was around $22 billion, it was a moment of celebration for everyone. But, the celebration was cut short due to dire news.

It was announced that many people employed by WWE would be laid off as a part of budget cuts. Apart from office staff, almost 20 other talents were released from the roster. As the fans were still trying to comprehend the news, another popular star is set to exit WWE next year.

In the year 2024, the contracts of many stars are set to expire. This includes Sheamus as well. This comes as a massive shock as many stars have left WWE, including Sheamus’s pal Edge. According to Fightful Select, his deal will end in the first 3 to 6 months of 2024.  However, the exact time is not confirmed as pro wrestling contracts consist of a lot of clauses. According to the reports, WWE had signed a bunch of stars for a new five-year contract in 2019. However, even their contracts are set to expire next year.

Apart from Sheamus, other names which came up are former SmackDown women’s champion, Becky Lynch and former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Drew McIntyre. However, during his visit to India, McIntyre gave an update on his contract. But there are no updates from Lynch and Sheamus’s end. Sheamus has to be one of the most decorated stars in WWE. He has won multiple titles including four World titles, King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, and many more. Along with that, he had the opportunity to be a part of the WrestleMania 39 along with Gunther and Drew McIntyre.

He also went face-to-face with Edge on his farewell match. With this news, fans are worried whether they will get to see The Celtic Warrior in action one last time or if will he disappear without any trace. Apart from that where will Sheamus go after WWE?

Will the roads rise up to meet Sheamus?

Sheamus has already expressed his frustration with the WWE creative department. Earlier this year, he commented how he felt as if he met a dead end after developing so much. Sheamus’s character was all fists and elbows. A person of brute force which most people consider to be short-tempered.

However, fans have noticed a considerable change in him. According to Sheamus, he had put a lot of organic effort into getting out of that image, only to be met with a dead end and no progress for the character.

But with his contract set to expire, he might be able to test different avenues for himself. One could be Tony Khan’s promotion, AEW. This could be because of an old friend of his, Claudio Castagnoli, also known by the name of Cesaro. They happened to be a tag team at RAW under the name of The Bar. Even after Cesaro joined AEW, he has been in touch with his old friend. This could pave the way for the fans to see their favorite tag team once again.
