Dwayne Johnson aka WWE’s The Rock has transitioned into multiple successful careers after he left his dream to chase Football. He reached the top of the mountain in WWE, became the top Hollywood action star, and raised successful business ventures. Now, there is news that he has plans to compete for the Presidential election in 2024.

Five former WWE stars who dived into politics

The rumors around The Rock’s potential candidacy for the White House have picked ever since “The Great One” paid a visit to the Pentagon. But Dwayne Johnson is not the first wrestler to take the path towards Politics. We take a look at 5 other wrestlers from Wrestling.

1. Kane – Glenn Jacobs, renowned as WWE’s Kane, transitioned from a celebrated wrestling career to successful politics. Beyond his formidable presence and championship achievements, Jacobs, affiliated with the Republican Party, made a foray into politics. His election as the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, in August 2018, serves as a testament to his unique journey from the entertainment industry to effective public service, illustrating the varied paths individuals can take post-professional wrestling.

2. Jesse Ventura – Jesse Ventura, born James George Janos, is a former professional wrestler, actor, and politician. Rising to fame in the 1970s and 1980s across various wrestling promotions, including WWE, where he achieved Hall of Fame status and worked as a commentator, Ventura’s charisma and colorful commentary were notable. Shifting to politics, he served as the Governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003 after retiring from wrestling. A prominent figure in both wrestling and politics, Ventura’s diverse career showcases success in entertainment and public service.

Jerry The King Lawler3. Jerry Lawler – Jerry Lawler, also known as “The King,” is a versatile figure celebrated for significant contributions to professional wrestling and a brief venture into politics. Prominently associated with the WWF (now WWE) and Memphis wrestling, Lawler excelled as a wrestler, commentator, and occasional actor. His extensive wrestling career, marked by numerous championships and iconic feuds spanning decades, is complemented by his distinctive voice as a wrestling commentator. In 1999, he entered politics with a mayoral run in Memphis, although it proved unsuccessful. Lawler’s enduring legacy derives from his influential and diverse career in professional wrestling.

4. Rick Steiner – Rick Steiner, uncle of Bron Breakker, born Robert Rechsteiner, achieved prosperity in his wrestling career, gaining fame in WCW and WWE. Meanwhile, the former WWE Superstar is a member of the Republican Party. He is currently an elected member of the Cherokee County Board of Education in Georgia, representing District 4. He also serves as the Board’s Vice-Chair.

5. Matt Morgan – As of January 2022, Matt Morgan, a former professional wrestler, has not pursued a notable political career. Recognized for his time in WWE and various wrestling promotions, there is no information suggesting his involvement in politics up to my last update. However, the data may be outdated, and any developments or changes, including potential political endeavors by Matt Morgan, should be verified through recent sources or news articles for the latest information on his career and activities.
