After the sudden demise of former Universal Champion Bray Wyatt, tributes have poured in from different corners of the pro wrestling fraternity. Names like John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have shared their condolences after this shocking news. However, Roman Reigns has not spoken a word on the issue yet. But Reigns’ former Shield mate has walked the extra mile.  

Seth Rollins took to X (formerly Twitter) to pay tributes to the man behind The Fiend gimmick when he expressed his love for Bray Wyatt through a message. And now he went further on to pay tribute to Wyatt in a special way during a match at Little Ceasars Arena, Detroit. 

Seth Rollins pays tribute to Bray Wyatt through signature turnbuckle taunt

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins recently feuded against Finn Balor at the WWE Live Event on 26th August at the main event. During the match, Seth Rollins performed Wyatt’s signature lean-back handstand at the turnbuckle.

After the match, Seth Rollins talked to the fans and said, “Every time I do my entrance and the song comes out and I see some lights in the crowd. Even before this week, I thought of Windham. And uh it is in some weird way, or something that I took from him. I don’t know, but I promise you guys I’ll always think of him for the rest of my career, every single time I see these fireflies. I think it is time to go to see a therapist and don’t talk to anybody about this.

He said he missed Wyatt and missed him a week before his death. He said he performed the taunt for Wyatt. An emotional Rollins further said that he would think of Wyatt every time he saw fireflies in the audience.

He did both of his signature taunts before delivering a vicious curb stomp to Finn Balor over a broken table for a pin. The crown erupted when Rollins pulled Wyatt’s signature taunt. Clips of the untelevised match were uploaded by fans on many social media platforms including YouTube and X.

Seth Rollins was not too high on Bray Wyatt after their infamous bout

In an interview with Ariel Helwani which premiered on Oct 1, 2022, Seth Rollins briefly talked about his troubles feuding against The Fiend. He mentioned that his infamous match against Bray Wyatt led to the demise of his Burn It Down Character, which was on a high before the match.

As per Rollins, his match at Hell in a Cell 2019 would have worked if The Fiend had beaten him quickly. But since Vince McMahon wanted Rollins to win, it led to the controversial ending of the match.

Regardless of the history, Rollins has shown admiration and appreciation for the late Bray Wyatt. What do you make of Rollins’ gesture for Wyatt?
