Today, the WWE is the biggest pro wrestling company in the world. Vince McMahon worked hard and built the WWE from scratch. While McMahon’s WWE sits at the top of the business, he also faces tough competition from WWE’s rival, AEW. Several competitors tried their hand at trying to replace WWE but failed. Classic pro wrestling promotion and one of the respected names in the business, National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) could be the next big wrestling company according to its President Billy Corgan.

Billy Corgan is confident about market capture

Billy Corgan is an American musician and songwriter who acquired NWA, in 2017. The NWA is one of the first companies that started promoting pro wrestling nationally in the US. This month, the NWA will celebrate NWA 75 to mark the 75th anniversary of the company’s foundation. 

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Billy Corgan revealed his upcoming plans for NWA. He predicted that the NWA would get a huge boost if a few variables fell into place. Corgan’s confidence says that he can end the war of supremacy between WWE and AEW by winning it himself.

“I think we’re probably positioned to be the next big company, “said Billy Corgan. He also told Vliet that he has the contacts and the access to achieve this goal. “I think it has to do with my access to mainstream media. I think it has to do with my access to every network in the world who’s interested in what I’m doing,” revealed Corgan. 

The 56-year-old has brought the company’s value from $20.9 million in 2019 to $34.8 million in 2023. Corgan said he is trying to “find the right business models” with parties that have agreed to work with him.

While NWA is not a new player in pro wrestling, it has been submerged under the shadows of WWE and AEW.

Billy Corgan said that his company and its output fall between that of AEW and WWE. He praised the founders of both companies. However, he also said they have left a huge market area untapped. “Vince, of course, is the only promoter that’s ever made money in wrestling, so we always have to pay tribute,” said Corgan. 

He also added, “AEW, of course, is running a brand-specific product. Tony’s found business where people didn’t think the business could be found, and all credit to him on that.”
