In a list of WWE stars who made it big in Hollywood, Batista ranks pretty high. In an interview with Collider, the former WWE Champion expressed his desire to play the role of Bane. Tom Hardy played the iconic supervillain in the Dark Knight Rises, which came out in 2012. Nine years later, Batista thinks he can bring the character to life once again.

“I don’t make any pretense about it. I had a chance to get a meeting at WB, they were talking to me about this and that and I said ‘hey, let’s talk about Bane.’ That happened to me one other time in my career. They wanted to talk to me about Fast and the Furious, and I said ‘I’m not interested.”

The Animal stars in Zack Snyder’s zombie-action movie Army of the Dead, which is already out on Netflix. F9, featuring John Cena and Vin Diesel releases on June 25th, a year after its original slated release.

How similar are the Animal and The Rock’s Hollywood careers?

Just like The Rock in 2003, Batista stepped away from WWE to pursue a more lucrative career in Hollywood. He instantly became a popular figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his role as Drax the Destroyer. He really brought the character of a lovable mercenary to life.

As for The Rock, he rose to fame with his roles in the Mummy Returns and the Scorpion King. The Rock found further success when he starred in movies like the Race to Witch Mountain and the Tooth Fairy, but his career peaked with the Fast and the Furious franchise. Playing DSS agent Luke Hobbs made Dwayne Johnson one of the best action stars in the world.

Success followed The Rock wherever he went. He starred in many more action movies like Skyscraper, Rampage, Hobbs and Shaw, and even became the centre of attraction in the Jumanji series. Batista isn’t far behind him right now, with offers for huge Netflix movies, Dune and of course returning to Marvel.
