Beth Phoenix Shocked after Her Husband Edge Turns Heel on WWE SmackDown

Edge shocked the world on the recent episode of SmackDown after he took a turn towards the dark side. However, no one was more shocked than his wife, Beth Phoenix.

In a recent tweet, Phoenix expressed her emotions after The Rated-R Superstar turned heel in a segment involving Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns.

Considering that she is from the industry itself, she realizes the implications of a Superstar turning heel. More often than not, it’s the heel who loses at the end of a rivalry because the good guy will always come out on top.

However, Edge is supposed to fight Roman Reigns at WrestleMania for the WWE Universal Championship. In this case, it’s heel vs. heel. Of course, WWE has turned this match into a triple threat involving Daniel Bryan, but there is heavy doubt about Bryan actually winning the title.

Now, even if Edge’s future as a champion is not her concern, it’s going to be a shock for anybody’s spouse if their partner switches to the dark side. It’s only a matter of time before Edge unleashes a different avatar.

When did Edge turn heel?

Edge challenged Roman Reigns after he secured the win in the Royal Rumble Men’s Match. He scouted his options for a while, took a trip to Raw to have a word with Drew McIntyre and to NXT for Finn Balor. At the end, he chose the Universal Championship.

Apart from Edge, another Superstar who is after the Universal Championship is Daniel Bryan. As a result, he had several altercations with Edge.

In fact, the one time when Bryan could have secured the Universal Championship was at Fastlane 2021. Edge acted as the special enforcer for the match and used this PPV to turn heel.

Daniel Bryan had Roman Reigns in the Yes Lock, and just when Reigns was tapping out, he entered the ring and stopped it from happening. Following this, he used a steel chair to take out his entire frustration on both Reigns and Bryan.

A second time he did this was at SmackDown when Adam Pearce made the WrestleMania match a triple threat match. Both Edge and Reigns were fuming, and Bryan attacked Edge. However, he took down Reigns who had taken down Bryan and unloaded a series of steel chair beatings on both Reigns and Bryan.

The officials had to interfere to save Daniel Bryan from him.

If this is how Edge is behaving at the beginning of his run as a heel, fans cannot predict the darkness which awaits them.
