Bobby Lashley Reveals Vince McMahon’s Backstage Reaction After His Historic WWE Championship Win

On WWE Raw, Bobby Lashley dethroned the Miz as the WWE Champion, This is the first time Lashley has picked up the title in his sixteen years in wrestling. Fame quickly surrounded the Almighty, who is being interviewed left, right and center. One particular person who was extremely happy with Lashley’s title win was his boss himself.

How did Vince McMahon congratulate Bobby Lashley?

Vince McMahon congratulated Bobby Lashley after his huge win on Raw. The new WWE Champion opened up on his boss’ reaction when he walked through the curtains with the title. He talked about the special moment with Fox Sports’ Ryan Satin.

“I think a lot of people understood that I deserved that, I earned it, I paid my dues. Over the last few years a lot of the guys have seen what I’ve been doing, and I’ve always kept a positive mind, I always kept a smile on my face. So a lot of the guys look at it and say, ‘I’m glad he won it. He did it, and he does deserve it, and that means the world to me.”

Vince gave me that opportunity to be at the top of his company. He’s looking at me as somebody that he can 1. Trust and [2.] respect, and he gave me the ba**s that are enormous. When I was able to go through that curtain [after winning the WWE Championship] and give Vince a hug, he grabbed me and he held me for a while and was like, ‘Man, I’m proud of you.’” 

Potential title challengers for WrestleMania

No one expected Bobby Lashley to be the WWE Champion heading into 2021’s WrestleMania. WWE has done a fantastic job with the Almighty, casting him with a guaranteed star-maker like MVP. In the Hurt Business, Lashley has won the United States and WWE Championship titles.

It is unlikely Lashley’s reign will continue after WrestleMania. Lashley is WWE’s best-booked heel. Every good heel needs a terrific babyface. The Raw roster has WWE’s biggest face in it, Drew McIntyre. McIntyre vs Lashley is a match we’ve already seen, but the stakes are a wee bit higher.

If Drew finds himself occupied at WrestleMania, another great opponent would be Cedric Alexander. Alexander joined the Hurt Business and found an aggressive and dormant side of him. He can turn on the Hurt Business to get a shot at the title, proving that championship gold means a lot more than friendships.
