Since then, WWE has probably been waiting for the fans to calm down following news of the lawsuit breaking out. And now it seems that they are trying to test the waters with the newest edition of the WWE 2K franchise.

Brock Lesnar returns to WWE 2K24 in a special mode

SmackDown Hotel uploaded a picture on X on February 29 from the WWE 2K24 game with the caption, “It is what it is. #WWE2K24”. The picture in the post indicated the presence of Brock Lesnar from the game, someone who was rumored to have been removed from the game. However, the recent update states that he is only available as a playable character for the special showcase mode and cannot be unlocked as part of other modes.

WWE 2K24 will also celebrate 40 years of WrestleMania, the grandest wrestling event on the planet. Hence, the game has a special game mode, dedicated to WrestleMania which includes many iconic matches featuring WWE legends.

One of those matches is from WrestleMania 30 when The Deadman collided with The Beast. The match is best remembered for Brock Lesnar’s win over The Undertaker and the end of the latter’s iconic streak, a highlight of every WrestleMania till then. WWE has recognized the moment as the greatest WrestleMania moment ever, overlapping Seth Rollins’s WM 31 cash-in and Hulk Hogan’s leg drop to Andre The Giant.

However, this isn’t the only match available in the game featuring Brock Lesnar. The Beast faced Roman Reigns in another WrestleMania 31, a year later after ending The Undertaker’s streak. The match is best remembered for Seth Rollins cashing in his MITB contract amidst a brutal main event. It is not clear if The Beast will be available in a playable mode for the WM 31 match.

The news may have come as a relief for Lesnar’s fans who were missing him after WWE went into eraser mode on the beast.

WWE erased Brock Lesnar immediately following the scandal

Brock Lesnar’s involvement in the Vince McMahon lawsuit, which saw the former boss completely disassociated with WWE, also led to Lesnar’s erasure. WWE went on a rampage to completely erase the Beast’s name from their system.

The initiative started with WWE omitting his name from the main roster, followed by a slash on 99% of his merchandise. He was also immediately replaced by Bron Breakker at the Royal Rumble and then removed from all WWE future programming. It was followed by the removal of his name from the WWE 2K24 game’s main roster and poster.
