There are many stars in pro wrestling who sparked like a champion early in their career but failed to live up to the hype. One such superstar is Ahmed Johnson, who was among the few favorites of Vince McMahon but unfortunately couldn’t make the best out of that extra push. There might be many factors in the promotion that played out to his disadvantage, but one of the key WWE executives, Bruce Prichard, thinks it’s his own mistakes that added to his misery the most.

McMahon was hopeful of Johnson becoming a future main eventer for the company and hence pushed him during the New Generation Era. Johnson had tremendous physical stamina and good enough skill that promised a sure-shot championship. He also claimed that he had to receive jealousy from a handful of big stars, including The Rock. He, in fact, got into a heated confrontation backstage with DJ. Ahmed revealed that the Rock’s arrogance caused their dispute. However, he didn’t drag it further and chose to end their conversation quickly.

His career, unfortunately, started to spiral down after a series of injuries and some poor performances in a couple of big matches. McMahon even placed him alongside Shawn Michaels occasionally, but it failed to work out the way he wanted.

Bruce Prichard revealed the very reason for Ahmed Johnson’s failure

WWW Hall of Famer Bruce Prichard blamed Johnson the most for his own misfortune. During a recent episode of the Something to Wrestle podcast, the veteran noted, ‘I think that you know, Ahmed was probably the number one person holding Ahmed back. You know, it got to the point where there are a lot of guys when they taste success. Feel cheated? Well, I should have gotten it earlier and I shouldn’t have it forever and some guys can’t handle the spotlight. ‘

Describing exactly where he fell short, he added, ‘But at some point, you have to deliver in it takes more. It takes more than just having charisma, and that’s where it ends. You also have to have a business acumen and you have to be able to deal with people and have a work ethic.’

Well, apart from struggling with these problems, Ahmed didn’t shine when given the chance on the mic as well.

Ahmed Johnson was equally bad with the microphone

Johnson was struggled with a microphone in his hands. His lack of clarity and confidence resulted in unwanted mumbling. For example, during a promo of his match with Golddust at In Your House 8, Johnson struggled to give proper words to his thoughts, and it led to a fragmented message.

Fans couldn’t really connect with him as such, so it came out as a dull promo. Another flaw in his notorious microphone skill was his tendency to repeat his words, which resulted in a boring promo.
