The ending of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak was undoubtedly one of the watershed moments in WWE. The world stopped for a while when Brock Lesnar pinned The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX. Even though ‘The Deadman’ always knew it would happen someday, still he wasn’t happy because he never wanted Lesnar to defeat him at WrestleMania. The Undertaker had his eyes on some other superstars for this purpose but Vince McMahon convinced him otherwise.
The Deadman revealed how Vince McMahon convinced him

The Undertaker mentioned that he never wanted Brock Lesnar to break his undefeated WrestleMania streak. He always wanted it to be some other young wrestler. However, Vince McMahon used his exceptional convincing skills, and he eventually agreed.
Talking to Helwani, the WWE Hall of Famer said, “I always had that belief that I don’t think that Brock needed it. When I got there that day, I was still going over. It’s in the early afternoon. I remember sitting in the dressing room and Vince came in, and as soon as he came in, I knew what it was. He changed the finish. I gave him my spiel and what I thought. It wasn’t no for the sake of not wanting to do the job.
Taker added, “It was ‘no’ in the sense that I didn’t feel like Brock needed it. Vince’s counter was, ‘If not Brock, then who beats you?’. Vince can sell ice to an Eskimo. I brought up as many points as I thought, like, looking long-term down the road. Vince, his deal too is, who down the road? At that point, I’m year to year. I don’t know when I’m going to pull the trigger and say enough’s enough, so I think he wanted to make sure he got that.”
The Undertaker wanted a young superstar to break his streak
The Undertaker further explained that he didn’t know when he’d retire, but before that, he’d always wanted to do something impactful for a young superstar’s career. The Undertaker even mentioned that selfishly, he’d loved to keep the streak undefeated.
But he wanted a superstar like Roman Reigns, who needed that the most, to break the streak. Initially, even Vince McMahon was not thinking about Lesnar beating The Undertaker. But he changed his mind later on.
