In the bout between WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, things turned sour. Not only did the match have a controversial ending, but it also witnessed one of its beloved babyfaces turn heel.

The two men got involved in a gruesome display of strength with special guest enforcer Edge watching at ringside. Daniel went in for the offense as he targeted the arm of Reigns.

Reigns rammed Bryan into the corner before Bryan had a short opening with a dropkick. Following this, Bryan charged upon Reigns, but the latter had him with a tilt-a-whirl slam and dominated him some more.

Both men hit the other with some offense. Bryan showed off his agility as he hit two high-flying dropkicks back to back, but Reigns broke out from each one.

After some big punches from Reigns, Bryan hit a hurricanrana and back-to-back kicks. He applied the yes lock for the first time in the night before Reigns tried to reach for the bottom rope. Eventually, Bryan let him go after a while.

Reigns came back with a powerbomb before running into a kick from Bryan. The latter accidentally knocked the referee out before Reigns pinned him, following a big spear.

Edge then re-entered the match as a working referee. Bryan kicked out at two as both of them recover. Reigns and Edge got into a war of words afterwards before the former got put into another Yes Lock.

However, Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso got involved in the match again and broke the lock. He then took out a steel chair and hit Edge with it. Uso tried to go for Bryan as well, but the latter overpowered him.

As Bryan threw Uso off the ring, he tried to have a swing at Reigns but accidentally hit Edge with it. Reigns tried to come in with Superman Punch and a Spear, but Bryan countered with another Yes Lock.

Eventually, Reigns started fading and even tapped out. Still, the guest enforcer Edge did not see it. Furthermore, he turned heel as he hit Bryan with the steel chair, breaking the lock.

The ‘Rated-R Superstar’ left the ring angrily to a mixed reaction from the crowd. A new referee joined in the match as Reigns started to move. He barely covered Bryan and got the pin, keeping the title.

This controversial ending to the match went in line with rumors. This also adds to the speculation that the WrestleMania 37 main event will be a triple threat one.
