Though, the reason for his absence is not revealed he may make a last-minute appearance. But how will his absence affect the show’s ratings?

However, the TV ratings may be affected negatively as Punk’s presence improved the show ratings despite what some have called a “contrived” promo. CM Punk and Randy Orton made their highly anticipated return to RAW at Survivor Series. While CM Punk’s return was shocking, Orton’s return was announced in advance. The Viper appeared on SmackDown as Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce fought for The Apex Predator.

The presence of both superstars on either brand has improved the ratings. While SmackDown has been performing well this year, RAW got a major boost with Punk’s return. They reached 0.65 ratings for the P18-49 category and received 1.8 million viewers. So it seems that Punk has been mostly responsible for RAW’s newest boost. This could mean that fans have the promotion in a chokehold, wherein the absence of Punk could lead to a severe drop in ratings this week.
