CM Punk’s list of grievances in WWE is quite long. The former WWE Champion was shunned from the main event, forced to wrestle through concussions, and had issues with COO Triple H.

While conversing with Renee Paquette on the Oral Sessions podcast, CM Punk talked about another example of classic unfair treatment in WWE.

CM Punk reveals WWE’s unfair treatment

“I remember one particular person got a role playing a wrestler because they knew somebody who was producing this television show for this certain channel, and then when it got shuffled to the office, all of a sudden, ‘no, you can’t do that. And then the next thing you know, John Cena is doing it.”

Punk’s tirade was in reference to the WWE taking away opportunities from its wrestlers. In this instance, a Superstar got robbed of the opportunity to star in a television show. The role was given to John Cena by the WWE.

“They would literally take every single request that came through, and they would funnel it to the one person that they wanted to be the face of the company.”

John Cena was the face of the WWE for the longest time. The 16-time World Champion was often described as a ‘shark’ who would prevent fellow Superstars from swimming to the top.

CM Punk continued to talk about how WWE would not allow him to be featured in other similar ventures. These opportunities do not just include movie and television roles. They include video game covers and apparently even pinball machines. Punk narrated a story of how he interacted with a pinball machine making company. The company wanted to feature him on their WrestleMania themed machines.

“We’re there, and the guy giving us the tour, the guy who owned the factory and all these pinball machines in this company, he was like, ‘yeah, we wanted you on our WrestleMania WWE pinball machine. They said no,’ and I was like, ‘what do you mean they said no?’ They were like, ‘no, don’t put him on that.

Punk revealed that the company pushed for Punk to be used for the machine. Instead, the WWE kept pushing John Cena, Sheamus or The Miz. This hypocrisy of WWE exerting control over wrestlers’ alternative sources of income are eerily similar to the Twitch and related third party application ban.
