Today’s special edition of SmackDown kicked off with The War and Treaty singing God Bless America. WWE Hall of Famer JBL joined Michael Cole and Kevin Patrick at the announcetable tonight. Around two decades ago, JBL was the one who initially pitched the idea to create Tribute to the Troops, which Vince McMahon agreed to. Ever since then, WWE has followed the tradition every year.

Santis Escobar and Bobby Lashley advance to the next level

The first bout of the night was the first match of the United States Championship tournament to decide the number 1 contender. Santos Escobar and Dragon Lee wrestled each other, and the former came out victorious from the duel. Interestingly, Dominik Mysterio was ringside during the match.

Cody Rhodes came out and addressed the Province crowd. He introduced the drill team, who put on an incredible performance for the WWE Universe. After that, Bobby Lashley came out to the ring for his match against Karrion Kross, with The Almighty picking up the win and advancing to the next level.

CM Punk is in SmackDown

For the first time after his return at Survivor Series, CM Punk stepped inside the SmackDown ring. It was captivating to witness him standing in the middle of the ring, explaining his plans for the future. He took many names during his promo, praising some while berating others.

He also revealed that next week, he will be at Raw where he will decide whether to join the Monday Night show or the Friday Night show. But one thing he makes very clear, and it’s that he wants to headline WrestleMania. The next match took place between Charlotte Flair and Asuka. Asuka won the match with a little help from Bayley.

After dropping bombs inside the squared circle, fans saw ‘The Best in the World’ in a couple of backstage footage where he met Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and LA Knight.

Randy Orton and LA Knight face The Bloodline

Last week, The Bloodline attacked Orton on SmackDown. Knight came in for the save, prompting SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to pair Orton and Knight against Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa for this week. The main event of the night featured the four superstars in tag team action.
