Fans were excited to see CM Punk compete at Royal Rumble and Rhodes win another opportunity to dethrone Roman Reigns. Though Punk was considered the favorite to win the Rumble, WWE shocked everyone by making Cody Rhodes win back-to-back Rumbles. After Rumble, fans expected Punk to win the Elimination Chamber but an untimely injury took Punk out. However, Punk had a heartfelt message for Rhodes before leaving.

WWE posted a backstage clip on X on January 31st featuring Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and WWE superstar CM Punk, where the two superstars hugged each other as Punk said, “Finish your story, bro.”

Punk and Rhodes fought it out at Royal Rumble as the last two contestants, as both superstars are looking for an opportunity to finish their story. While Rhodes is looking forward to an opportunity to win the WWE World title, Punk wants to main-event WrestleMania. The two superstars had a heated promo segment on RAW last week before Rumble.

As per the update, Punk tore his right tricep during Royal Rumble and is expected to miss WrestleMania 40. It has forced WWE to make some changes in its initial plan of Rhodes facing Roman Reigns while Punk faced Seth Rollins. However, as seen on RAW this week, Rhodes may face Rollins again at WrestleMania to finish the story. Meanwhile, Punk’s injury has led to woes for CM Punk and WWE.

CM Punk is out of WrestleMania till summer
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported on January 29th that Punk may be out for a few months due to the injury. Johnson said, “CM Punk’s dreams of headlining Wrestlemania will likely not be realized this year.” He further reported, “PWInsider.com can confirm that Punk is believed to have suffered a torn triceps during the Men’s Royal Rumble match. The severity of the tear has not been confirmed but Punk is believed to heading towards surgery after an appearance on tonight’s Raw.”
