Why Rhodes’ mother didn’t want him to pursue wrestling?
Rhodes recently appeared on the recent edition of The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz. During the show, he mentioned that his mother didn’t want him to take up wrestling as a career. The reason behind his mother being against the wrestling business was the lifestyle of a wrestling star.

‘The American Nightmare’ said, “Yeah, I think it was a lifestyle that scared her.” His father Dusty Rhodes was also a pro wrestler, so his mother knew what a wrestler had to go through in the industry with its rigorous demands.

Pro wrestlers are always on the road and get to spend very little time with their loved ones. Also, Rhodes’ mother used to worry about how the bad days could affect her son. She was afraid of how her son would handle the lows in his life.
Now, the 2023 Royal Rumble winner has become a top name in WWE. This implies that he really handled his losses and overcame the struggles in the wrestling business well.

Cody Rhodes says his mother has experienced the wrestling journey with him
Rhodes stated that one can’t take the pro wrestling industry “for granted.” He speaks it from his own experience in the industry. Six years back, he was struggling to make a name for himself. Now he is one of the top stars in the Stamford-based promotion.
Rhodes added that whatever has happened to him on the journey, his mother was there to experience it all. From joining WWE to set his foot in the independent wrestling circuit, establishing AEW, and then finally returning to WWE, his mother has been there by his side for everything.
He said that he has done everything that his mother “taught” him and he is “very excited to see her at WrestleMania.”
