Cody Rhodes Reveals Details Behind His Near-Death Experience at WrestleMania XL: “It Was a Gunshot”

Wrestlers often escape near-death experiences inside the ring, but Cody Rhodes had to escape a life-threatening situation in real life. The security protocols at the Lincoln Financial Field couldn’t stop a technical problem that Rhodes’ bus faced during the WrestleMania XL weekend. This ended up in a scenario faced by The American Nightmare that was extremely dangerous.

During a recent interview, the former AEW EVP detailed the experience of his bus catching fire. The wrestling superstar happened to be inside the vehicle when this situation was going down.

The Undisputed Universal Champion of WWE revealed, in a recent interview with the Sports Illustrated Media that he was inside his bus when the air conditioning unit on top of the bus exploded. “I was in bed I thought it was a gunshot because all the buses were in the same area and I thought maybe we were getting robbed,” confessed Cody Rhodes.

The bus driver yelled for everyone to get out of the vehicle, the wrestler opened the bedroom door to investigate and realized that it wasn’t a gunshot. ‘Stardust’ revealed, “The only way I can describe it from when I open the bedroom door is if you’ve ever been on like The Mummy ride at Universal Studios, there’s an effect where they light the ceiling up with fire where it comes in and it creeps down the ceiling.

The brand-new champion was terrified after the incident. Although he was able to get out in time, he may not have been able to continue his story after the grand victory. Despite his near-death experience, fans were still not merciful regarding his ongoing title reign. Many viewers are already done with him.

Cody Rhodes’ near-death experience didn’t stop fan brutality

Ever since his grand victory, Cody Rhodes hasn’t wrestled a match to defend his title yet. However, he has been appearing regularly on the weekly shows to deliver promos for the audience. WWE recently uploaded a clip from a segment that Rhodes delivered during the Red Brand show on 15th April. Rhodes thanked his friend from ‘The Shield,’ who returned to help him secure a victory despite his injuries.

Although the crowd in the arena did not have a problem with the promo, the people in the comment section were not happy about it. But now that fans have gotten to know about what Cody Rhodes nearly escaped from, people might be less brutal about it.
