The go-home episode of WWE SmackDown came live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. A day away from WrestleMania XL, this show was packed with surprises. Kevin Owen’s show, Austin Theory & Grayson Waller vs. New Catch Republic, the final build for Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, and much more. Here are the results of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown 05/04/2024 Results

The show started off with Meek Mill’s Mania hype package. During this, Michael Cole dropped a bomb of a reference to Broken Matt Hardy amidst his possible WWE return.

In-ring: The show opened with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton on the Kevin Owens’ Show. The two discussed their upcoming match at Mania XL. They were interrupted by Logan Paul. Standing in the WrestleMania XL arena, Paul taunted both men. However, both realized that Paul was just across the street from them. Leaving the ring to go after Paul, it was revealed that Grayson Waller and Austin Theory were waiting to ambush them. The two followed Orton and Owens.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal 2024

Winner: Bronson Reed 

Kit Wilson was the first to be eliminated, followed by Elton Prince. As the chaos of the rumble begins, LWO is soon to be eliminated. JD McDonagh was next to get eliminated, followed by Cedric Alexander. As the number of participants dwindled, the ring was Ivar’s and Big Bronson Reed’s. The two monsters went at it, and Reed could pick up the win by eliminating Ivar with a Lariat.

Video promo: Ahead of WrestleMania XL, Karrion Kross cut a promo for Bobby Lashley.

In-ring segment: Logan Paul returned to the arena to diss the audience. Unfortunately for the United States Champion, Orton and Owens emerged from under the ring. Despite trying to bail, Paul was hit with an RKO.

Backstage segment: We see Carlito tending to an injured Dragon Lee.

Elekra Lopez vs. Zelina Vega

Winner: Elekra Lopez

A quick match between the ladies of the rival teams! Despite trying her best a distraction by Dominik Mysterio led to Lopez picking up the win.

Post-match: Rey Mysterio got attacked by Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar. Yet, Andrade turned on them and saved Rey.

In-ring segment: Bianca Belair and Naomi cut a promo ahead of their match at Mania against Damage CTRL. They introduce Jade Cargill, and she claims Damage CTRL is in the eye of the storm.

Backstage segment: Dragon Lee isn’t cleared to participate at Mania XL, so Andrade el Idolo steps into his shoes. He is now part of the LWO.

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller vs. New Catch Republic

Winner: New Catch Republic

Despite being unable to catch Orton and Owens, Waller and Theroy were ready for their match. Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate looked good as usual in this hard-hitting match. The match was not just a test of strength but also wit. Despite trying their best, a Birming Hammer later, The New Catch Republic picked up the win.

Post-match: Judgment Day attacked the New Catch Republic and laid them out. This was their way of sending a message ahead of Mania.

Video promo: A quick recap about Bayley’s feud with Damage CTRL is shown.

In-ring segment: LA Knight came out to the ring to address his match with AJ Styles at Mania XL. Despite hitting a botch, Knight claims he would destroy Styles at Mania.

Video package: Bobby Lashley and  The Street Profits cut a promo claiming to end their feud with Karrion Kross and AOP at Mania XL.

Main Event: Jey Uso vs. Solo Sikoa

Winner: 

The match started with Jey taking the upper hand with some great shots at Sikoa. Despite his bigger size, Jey was much faster.  Only after Sikoa stopped his dive out of the ring did Sikoa get the upper hand. It was clear that Jimmy was at the venue and could run interference at any time. Despite getting beaten down, Jey could avoid Sikoa and get the crowd on his side to pick the upper hand in the match. Sikoa was able to kick out of the pinfall and hit a Samoan Drop on Jey. Jimmy quickly interrupted, but Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins came out to even the playing field.

With Jimmy in the ring, Rhodes, Rollins, and Jey were able to get some revenge on The Bloodline with Rhodes using his own weight belt. Rhodes cut the final promo for their feud, claiming that they would slap the Final Boss and shatter The Bloodline before dethroning Roman Reigns.
