Dwayne Johnson has finally become a board member of the TKO group. This position grants him enhanced administrative powers when it comes to decision-making about the sports entertainment company. Because of this, WWE’s decision to sign a 10-year deal with Netflix becomes Johnson’s business too. Considering his profession as a Hollywood actor and producer, this creates a possible bias.

Recently, during an interview, “The Rock” was asked to shed light on the same. Following the announcement that WWE is moving Monday Night Raw to Netflix starting in January 2025, Johnson was asked whether this deal would affect his decisions when choosing a home for his OTT movies.

For those of you who don’t know, Monday Night Raw will leave USA Network starting January 2025 and start streaming on Netflix instead. This is because the streaming giant is satisfying WWE’s demand to increase the contract money. Netflix will pay WWE $5 billion for 10 years starting with a contract that will go on from 2025 to 2035.

In a recent episode of Squak on the Street, Johnson sat down with the hosts who asked him whether this Netflix deal would have an effect on where he would want to “see it placed in the distribution chain“.

DJ replied, “Yeah, of course, you have your finger on the pulse, you’d like to try to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening.” The WWE legend further added, “As you look around, things are happening so quickly and so rapidly. It’s constantly evolving. It’s constantly forcing us to figure out where’s the best home for a particular project.

To put it simply, with his upcoming project The Smashing Machine on the horizon, Johnson would want to favor Netflix over other streaming platforms when it comes to its digital release. However, in the end, he would prefer whatever seemed to be the best home for a project.

The Netflix deal has not only gotten a reaction from of the new TKO board member but more WWE stars have shared their opinions on the new deal.
