In the wrestling world, the beef that two wrestlers have with each other is usually limited to the kayfabe storyline they’re involved. However, in some cases, the disputes can also lead to two wrestling talents having ‘heat’ in real life too. Matt Riddle, while in WWE, was considered controversial for several reasons including the various instances where he found himself feuding with superstars unknowingly.

WWE legends like Bill Goldberg famously had displeasure towards the ‘King of Bros’. Recently, Riddle was finally asked about the plausible reason behind why he used to find himself in situations like these and he had a reply that made another WWE legend laugh out loud.

The former WWE wrestler recently sat down to chat with Kurt Angle on his podcast The Kurt Angle Show. Some time after the episode had kicked off, the Olympic medalist asked Matt Riddle about why he found himself in so many real-life conflicts involving other WWE wrestlers.

Matt Riddle had an MMA background before he transitioned into the pro wrestling world. He still carried the lessons he learned while fighting for MMA promotions, especially ‘trash talking’, and tried to inculcate it into his WWE run.

This was not well received by big stars as Riddle replied to Kurt Angle by saying, “In professional wrestling, unfortunately, you know, it’s confusing to me because we do what we do, it’s kind of work, that people would be more flexible with it.” The wrestler further added, “But instead they take stuff way more personal and every time I open my mouth, somebody takes something personal.”

The last statement caught Kurt Angle off guard, making him laugh out loud upon discovering the real reason why Riddle was often caught in off-stage heat with his colleagues and WWE legends.

The wrestler not only managed to get WWE legend Bill Goldberg riled up with his trash-talking skills, but also almost gave way to a rivalry with Randy Orton.

In yet another recent podcast in which Matt Riddle was featured, he revealed an interesting detail about how wrestling veterans didn’t usually find him easily likable. This was true to such a great extent that his former teammate, “The Viper, ” was about to get him fired from the promotion when they first met.

Eventually, Orton admitted that Riddle had “grown on him” and that he had made his judgement in haste. Had the WWE legend not gotten to know Riddle properly, we may not have gotten the chance to see their iconic partnership winning tag team titles together.
