Jim Ross was an integral part of the WWE during the Attitude Era as well as their transition into the Ruthless Aggression Era. He was well aware of the company and what went on backstage. In an appearance on ESPN MMA with Ariel Helwani, the WWE Hall of Famer opened up on what Vince McMahon’s reaction was when he saw Brock Lesnar for the first time.
Vince McMahon was impressed by Brock Lesnar
‘JR’ said, “I wrote in my book Under the Black Hat about Vince’s… what he thought when he saw Brock Lesnar for the first time. You know we started craving Brock Lesnar when he was a junior in college in Minnesota. So we were not gonna let him go. When Vince saw him he had the damnedest man crush in like 10 seconds on earth. He said, ‘damn. He looks like a Viking.”

These words are not out of place, as Lesnar arrived with a bang. Dubbed ‘The Next Big Thing’, Lesnar became the youngest WWE Champion, aged just 25. Also, he had high profile feuds with some other of the biggest names, including Hulk Hogan and The Rock.
Even after his failed NFL career and a dominant stint in the UFC, Lesnar’s stock had not fallen in the WWE.

He made his return in 2012, feuding with John Cena, Triple H, and CM Punk. ‘The Beast’ shocked the WWE Universe at WrestleMania 30, becoming the first man to beat The Undertaker at the event.
In addition to this, he has had lengthy reigns as Champion in recent years. He is the longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion and has claimed every accolade possible in the WWE. Lesnar is an 8-time world champion. Also, he has won the Money in the Bank match, the Royal Rumble, the King of the Ring tournament.

The WWE chairman even attributes the low ratings of his flagship show WWE Raw to Lesnar’s absence. It clearly shows why the company is so reliant on Lesnar even after all these years. Furthermore, it highlights McMahon’s man-crush that led him to get the Minneapolis native on the books and push him to the moon.
